Big Bear
Our first family ski outing with the kids turned out to be one of the best ideas we have had. It was not only the first time on the slopes for the kids, but the first time they really got to play in the snow. Kennedy was 3 when she played with it while Michael was in my tummy. She didn't really remember it so this was her second "first time".
The home we rented was AMAZING!! It was a beautiful home with so much for the family to do. Board games, puzzles, pool table, ping pong, air hockey, indoor jacuzzi, and the most popular play toy.......BUNK BEDS!! We took full advantage of ALL the fun things to do. Michael was in heaven with so much to do. Kennedy mostly enjoyed building a fort around her bunk bed and reading books. Of course she played games and stuff, but she liked hanging out and enjoying the peace and quiet of the cabin.
The weather was a huge challenge on the trip. It kept us from "doing" other activities like tubing and bowling. We were there a total of 3 days and were only outside 1 whole day due to the "blizzard" in Big Bear. The tubing place was closed and when we opted for plan B.. bowling, we bowled one game and the power went out! The power at our cabin went out for an hour or so too. All I could think about was the upcoming storm and no heat. It was an adventure to say the least and we all had a blast.
The second day at Snow Summit was the BEST EVER!! Both kids took lessons; Kennedy in skiing and Michael in snow boarding. By the time the lessons were over they were skiing and boarding like almost pros!! Kennedy said that she wants to live there so she can ski every day!! Michael chimed in with "yea, me too!". This is music to any parent's ears. When your kids find something that they love. We were there for maybe 5 hours and then the blizzard showed up and we had to go home. We have promised the kids that we will come back at least one more time this season (hopefully more).
